Parkville Town Forum to Connect Vets with Benefits, Answers

U.S. Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger arranged the Nov. 18 meeting to bring resources, experts together for Second Congressional District veterans.

If you're a veteran needing some help navigating what can be a confusing and complex system of information, resources and benefits, U.S. Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger has just the answer.

Ruppersberger will host a town hall forum Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Parkville American legion Post 183, 2301 Putty Hill Ave. in Parkville.

Second Congressional District veterans and their family members are invited to attend the event that will provide legislative updates on veteran issues at both the federal and state levels, according to a statement from Ruppersberger.

The forum will also include booths staffed by members of veterans service organizations that can help connect vets with their benefits.

"Though Veterans Day has recently passed, I believe every day is an opportunity to honor those who have served our country," Ruppersberger said in the statement. "This event is a great chance for local veterans to speak their minds, ask questions and receive individual help accessing their benefits."

Scheduled presenters include Del. Susan Aumann; Dennis Smith, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Maryland Health Care System; Secretary Edward Chow, Maryland Department of Veteran Affairs; local veterans; and Ruppersberger.
