Purse Campaign to Benefit Human Trafficking Victims

The Baltimore County Commission for Women is collecting new or gently used purses.

As part of its effort to combat human trafficking, the Baltimore County Commission for Women is hosting the Power of the Purse collection campaign.

From 3 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 23, new or gently used purses can be dropped off curbside at 7 West Bistro Grille at 7 West Chesapeake Ave. in Towson, according to a Baltimore County news release. The commission is hoping to sell a truck full of purses collected there at events for The Samaritan Women, a Christian ministry. Funds raised will support human trafficking victims.

Additionally, 15 percent of eat-in dinner receipts at 7 West that evening will be donated to the organization as part of the commission's Dinner for a Cause, the release reads.

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger and Baltimore County Police Chief Jim Johnson are scheduled to attend the event.
