VIDEO: Ruppersberger Addresses Oak Crest Residents in the Wake of Osama Killing

Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger addressed seniors on Friday morning about Osama bin Laden's killing.

U.S. Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger visited Oak Crest retirement community in Parkville on Friday to detail the operation that led to the killing of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden and to discuss the action's ramifications.

"I guarantee you the leadership in al-Qaida have to be really concerned, they must be really intimidated, because you know, the message is now, 'You're going to come and kill Americans, we're going to find you and we will bring you to justice.' We just did it," Ruppersberger said.

Ruppersberger is the ranking Democratic member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, a group responsible for overseeing agencies including the CIA and NSA.

He told the group how he receiver a call from CIA Director Leon Pannetta on the evening bin Laden was killed, and echoed Panetta's sentiment that the Pakistani government was either cooperating with al-Qaida or incompetent, because of the al-Qaida leader's proximity to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

"I hope it was incompetent," Ruppersberger said. "We need Pakistan."

Ruppersberger also applauded the presidential decision not to release the photos of bin Laden's body, and told those gathered that despite the lack of photographic evidence, Osama bin Laden is unequivocally dead.
