Mom2Mom with Pampered Mommas ~ "My maternity leave will be a few weeks long, and I will work throughout it"....

Connecting with local mommas

Yes, you read that right....By now you have probably heard about the new Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer's announcement that she is expecting and will "work throughout it"..Wait, I should probably mention that this is her FIRST CHILD.

I am all about supporting women, I admire women that have powerful careers and being the CEO for Yahoo is pretty up there, but come on...Does she not have any girlfriends whom have had babies that can take her by the shoulders and shake her a bit...  Does she not have family that can sit her down and tell her she is not being realistic...wait did she not see the video in Home Economics about giving birth? Better yet does she not watch TLC's birth show?

There is alot of buzz going around about whether or not she is setting a bad example for those mommas that actually take the full maternity leave. The mommas that enjoy the time away from work after bringing a new life into the world. Some of us, need to rest and recover, bond with our baby, etc.  Alot of women have spoken up and suggested that she should take the full maternity leave to set an example to companies that women can take time away to be with their new family and still come back to work and make things happen. Afterall, we are the best multi-taskers ever right?

Oh wait...did we mention the exhaustion factor?  How in the world is she going to run a multi-million dollar company on little or no sleep? Granted she may have help at night (I am sure she can afford that) but regardless the rest is different when you hear your baby crying in the other room.

I do wish her well and I hope her experience is a beautiful one, but I would love to talk to her about 2-3 weeks post birth to see how many hours she's "putting in at the office"

Would love to hear your thoughts about this? Is she setting a bad example? Is she trying to be Supermom? Does she really have no clue about how her life is going to change? What do you think??
