BLOG: More ReZoning Issues for Parkville / Carney

Is there a rezoning peition in your neighborhood?

County Council is currently considering petitions to rezone property throughout Baltimore County. This includes properties located in Parkville / Carney. Zoning is important to how future development will occur in our community. Once the zoning has been changed the owner has the “right” to sell or develop the property as permitted under the new zoning classification.

Last Tuesday night residents and community groups testified against giving developers the “right” to build a CVS near the intersection of Harford and Joppa Roads. I don’t have to tell you that this is one of the most congested traffic intersections in Baltimore County and a CVS could add 1,000 more daily trips to the intersection.

Tonight night residents and community groups will testify against the Honda Auto Dealership’s request to rezone residential property for use of the auto dealership. This property currently acts a green buffer between the dealership and residential homes on East Avenue. The Issues number is 6-017 and the hearing will begin at 7:00 PM, at Overlea High School.

Are there any other rezoning issues in your community? Greater Parkville Community Council has taken the following position on rezoning petitions in our area.
