Dumpster Day, Flower Sale At Carney Elementary

Residents are invited to drop off unwanted items and buy flowers to benefit exterior beautification projects at the school.

If spring cleaning and yard work have left you with a bunch of junk you're looking to get rid of, but can't put out for your regular trash collection day, the Carney Improvement Association has a solution for you.

The group is hosting a Dumpster Day at Carney Elementary School this Saturday (April 27) from 8 a.m.-12 p.m., according to an email from group president Meg O'Hare.

Carney residents are invited to drop off brush, branches, washers, dryers, dishwashers, bikes, metal, plastic and wood, the email states. However, you won't be able to drop off any electronics, televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, or hazardous waste.

The group will be selling flats of 32 plants, including begonias, impatiens, petunias, verbena and vinca, for $16 or $2 per pack (4 plants); as well as annual flowers like gerber daisy, New Guinea impatiens, geranium, and super petunias ($25 for a tray of 8 plants or $3.50 per plant).
