Elmwood Elementary Scheduled For Air Conditioning

The Overlea-Fullerton area school will have air conditioning installed in its classrooms in 2013.

Soon one less school will be in need of air conditioning in Parkville-Overlea: Elmwood Elementary School is scheduled for installation in 2013.

The school will get air conditioning as part of an energy performance contract undertaken by the Baltimore County school system, as outlined in a PowerPoint presentation on the school system website.

A representative from Councilwoman Cathy Bevins' office confirmed the development Wednesday afternoon.

"Councilwoman Bevins has the most schools in the county without air conditioning in her district," said spokesman J.B. Osborne. "Cathy is very excited that Elmwood will be getting air conditioning."

School system officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

Because it was already scheduled for improvement, Elmwood Elementary wasn't included in a recently released a priority list of schools in need of air conditioning. Included in the list were six area schools, including Overlea High School in the number one spot.

Patch Baltimore County education reporter Nayana Davis recently wrote that there is no timeline for installing air conditioning at schools on the county's priority list.
