Parkville-Overlea Schools Compete In MPSSAA Basketball Tournament

Parkville, Overlea and Loch Raven High Schools will vie for region titles in the MPSSAA tournament, which begins next week.

It's time again for the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association region tournament in both boys and girls basketball. Check out where your local team is playing when the tournament kicks off next week.

Boys Basketball

Class 3A — Parkville

The 12th-seed Parkville Knights take on Patterson (No. 5) at Patterson on Feb. 26. If the Knights advance they will play the winner of a contest between C. Milton Wright (No. 4) and Woodlawn (No. 13) on Feb. 28.

Class 2A — Loch Raven

The No. 1 seed Raiders have a first round bye and will play the winner of a contest between Owings Mills (No. 8) and Lansdowne (No. 9) at home on Feb. 28.

Class 1A — Overlea

The eleventh seed Falcons play an away game against Bluford Drew Jemison (No. 6) on Feb. 26. If Overlea advances, they'll play at Pikesville (No. 3) on Feb. 28.

Girls Basketball

Class 3A — Parkville

Parkville (No. 12) visits cross-town rivals Towson (No. 5) on Feb. 22 or 23. A mark in the 'W' column for the Lady Knights will see them play the winner of a contest between Digital Harbor (No. 4) and Eastern Tech (No. 13) on Feb. 25.

Class 2A — Loch Raven

The Lady Raiders (No. 4) earned a first round bye and will play a second-round home game against Edmonson/Westside (No. 5) on Feb. 25.

Class 1A — Overlea

The Lady Falcons (No. 7) take on Pikesville (No. 10) at home on Feb. 23. A win for Overlea will see them travel to Western Schools of Technology, Engineering and Science for second-round play on Feb. 25.

The girls title games are played at the University of Maryland Baltimore County campus on Mar. 9, while the boys title games are held at the Comcast Center on Mar. 16.
