MPSSAA Lacrosse: Loch Raven Advances, Parkville, Overlea Fall

Play also begins in the state athletics association baseball tournament Friday.

Despite a rainy Wednesday afternoon, lacrosse games affecting Parkville, Overlea and Loch Raven high schools went on and only one school advanced in the tournament.

Loch Raven's boys and girls lacrosse teams both move on to compete in their respective Class 2A/1A tournaments following victories over the Overlea Falcons Wednesday afternoon.

The Raiders guys (No. 9) defeated Overlea (No. 8) in a 17-0 rout and move on to play New Town (No. 1) at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Northwest Regional Park.

Meanwhile, the Raiders girls (No. 4) beat Overlea (No. 5) by forfeit and move deep into the tournament following a first round bye. The first game the Raiders play will be against the winner of a contest between Sparrows Point (No. 1) and Owings Mills (No. 8) on Friday. An Owings Mills victory would see Loch Raven play at home.

Both Parkville's boys and girls lost their first round games and were eliminated from the Class 4A/3A tournaments.
