Overlea Dominates Northwestern, Moves on to State Semifinal

The Falcons pulled out a 39-10 victory Friday night over Northwestern.

The Falcons are still undefeated after Friday's contest with Northwestern—the boys in orange managed a 39-10 victory, giving them the school's first regional championship title since 1993.

Quarterback Tevin Berry found the end zone three times, including once on a 1-yard quarterback sneak. Berry also connected with Alex Wells on a 7-yard touchdown pass and Fyne Ndukwe on a 27-yarder.

Monte Dennis and John McCargo each returned a recovered fumble for a touchdown.

Overlea will take on defending state 1A champion Dunbar (10-2) this Friday at CCBC Essex for a chance to play in the MPSSAA state finals at M&T Bank Stadium. Dunbar claimed the 1A South regional title on Saturday in a 50-6 victory over Surratsville.

If Overlea takes out Dunbar, the Falcons will play the winner of the Fort Hill (12-0) versus Perryville (12-0) contest in the state finals at M&T Bank Stadium the weekend of Dec. 2.

The last time Overlea had a chance to compete for a state title was in 1988.
