Parkville Recreation Council Announces Scholarship Winners

Students honored at group's last meeting of the year.

At its final meeting of the year, the Parkville Recreation Council presented scholarships to some outstanding students from area schools, both public and private. 

Scholarship winners were decided based on academic merit and had to live within the boundaries of the Parkville Recreation Council.

This year's winners include:

  • Arielle Boyer (Parkville HS), who plans to major in music education at Towson University
  • Brett Chenowith (Loch Raven HS), who plans to major in business or economics at the University of Rochester
  • Erin Kelly (Loch Raven HS), plans to attend Towson University
  • Katherine Sellers (Mercy), who plans to major in biology at Florida Southern College
  • Corin Tahinos (Loch Raven HS), who plans to major in accounting at Stevenson University
  • Molly Friedel (Loch Raven HS), who plans to double major in chemistry and biology at Randolph Macon University
  • Sabrina Wandres (Parkville HS), who plans to attend St. Mary's College of Maryland
  • Patrick Marron (Calvert Hall), who plans to major in history at Salisbury University
  • Ugonnaya Obineme (Loch Raven HS), who plans to major in chemistry at the University of Maryland Baltimore County
  • Michael Barron (Calvert Hall), who plans to attend Towson University
  • Alison Burnett (Loch Raven HS), who plans to major in secondary education at Towson University
  • Michael Stabile (Archbishop Curley), who plans to major in education at Stevenson University

The winners of the scholarships—valued between $100 and $500—were announced by Parkville Recreation Council vice-president Jeff Okeson.

"The rec has presented these scholarships for close to 25 years," said Okeson. "We're one of the few that do it and we're proud of that.
