Parkville-Area Students Receive College Honors

As college students head back to class for the spring semester, many schools are announcing academic honors awarded for the fall semester.

Many Parkville-Overlea area students received recognition for academic achievement for the fall semester.

Jamshaid Rafique Chaudhry was named to the Dean's List at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. The son of Farzana J. Chaudry is a Perry Hall High School graduate.

The private men's college's Dean's List honors students who achieve a 3.3 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale.

Brittney Schmidt, a senior majoring in engineering science, has been named to the Dean's List at Hofstra University in New York. To receive the honor, students must achieve at least a 3.4 grade-point average.

Kristin Gunning, a senior marine science and biology major, was named to Coastal Carolina University's Dean's List. The honor is bestowed upon full-time students who achieve a grade-point average of at least 3.25 (freshman) or 3.5 (upperclassmen).

Rebecca Moreland, a Stevenson University student, received a spot on the Middle Atlantic Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. Selected students must be sophomores or higher in academic standing, participate in a varsity-level sport, have a 3.2 grade-point average or higher and complete the playing season in good standing.

Michael Partin, a senior majoring in biology, was named to the President's List at James Madison University in Virginia. Students who earn President's List honors must complete at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a grade-point average of at least 3.9.

Jason Lee, a Nottingham resident, was named to the Dean's List at Pratt Institute in New York.
