In costume, Villa Cresta principal Kathy Bishop did "The Chicken Dance" on the school roof to reward students for a successful PTA fundraiser.

Wednesday afternoon provided a surreal experience as 600 Villa Cresta Elementary students gathered outside near the school entrance to watch their principal, Kathleen Bishop, dance on the roof.

The performance, which included wedding favorites The Hokey Pokey and The Chicken Dance, was a reward for the students who raised about $11,000 for their PTA through a Read-a-Thon.

The kids gathered out front and joined their principal in clapping, dancing and singing along to the music.

"Some of you might be wondering why I'm up here dressed like this," Bishop said addressing the students. "It's because of you," she said with a witchy laugh.

The money the kids raised will be used to help fund PTA-sponsored assemblies and school programs including the upcoming "Ned Show" on Nov. 22, which focuses on bullying and harrassment.
