Pine Grove Middle Students Design Backpacks For Chatsworth School

The bookbags, hand-painted with designs from students' favorite children's books, were delivered to kindergarteners earlier this week.

A group of Pine Grove Middle School students made it their mission to share their love of reading with kindergarteners at Chatsworth School in Reisterstown.

The students, seventh-graders who take art with teacher Jackie Morgan, designed and hand-painted backpacks inspired by their favorite children's books, according to a news release from the school. Each of the bags, delivered recently, also contained the book that inspired the design and bore a unique gift tag.

"The students at Pine Grove Middle wanted to share their childhood books with the kindergarten students in order to get them excited about reading and foster a life-long appreciation of books," the release states.

"Making the bags took a long time and was hard work, but seeing the kids with the bags was a good reward. It was definitely worth the work," said seventh-grader Casey B., in the release.
