Pine Grove Students Chosen To Display Art At Sheppard Pratt

A group of Pine Grove Middle School artists were recently selected to have their art shown at an area hospital.

Seventh grade art students at the Carney-area school were selected to have their posters displayed at the Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt, according to the school's good news ambassador Dorienne Plait.

The artwork, created as part of the 7th annual "Love Your Tree" campaign is focused on "understanding of the importance of self-acceptance, the diversity of beauty, and the celebration of positive body image," Plait wrote in an email.

Of the 38 students who were chosen to have their art shown, two earned special honors: Jim Hill was awarded the second place prize for middle schoolers and another student earned an honorable mention, Plait wrote.

"It is gratifying to know that these sorts of opportunities for the children are
presented and promoted," Plait wrote in an email, quoting a Pine Grove parent. "The imagination and talent of our youth is often missed or overshadowed by the headlines. Nice to see PGMS represented so well. It was a fun night."

The student artwork, some of which is attached to this article, will be on display until March 8 at the Conference Center at Sheppard Pratt Center for Eating Disorders.
