Whiz Kid of the Week: Andy Madore

Whiz Kid's Name and Age: Andy Madore, 17
Whiz Kid's School:
Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Andy is the quarterback for the Parkville Knights varsity football team and a player on the varsity baseball team. He is also an AP Scholar currently ranked 8th of 354 in his class, and was a Baltimore Ravens Scholar Athlete last year.

Andy was also nominated to serve as the student representative for the Baltimore County Board of Education.

In his own words, Madore wrote the following in an email to Patch:

Whether it's in the classroom or out on the field, I have always tried to be a role model for those around me.

There have been and always will be obstacles that interfere with my efforts to succeed, but there is an idea that has helped me fight through the struggles I have faced. 'Tough times don't last; tough people do.' If there is one thing I have learned through all my life experiences, it has been that simple fact.

Someone can be the smartest person or most athletic person on the planet, but if they lack the ability to drive on when the road gets a little rough then they will be unable to succeed. 

My goal in life is to live to my potential. I want to be better tomorrow than I am today. My strength and my heart will carry me over any obstacle in my way, and my drive will make sure I continue to succeed.
