Whiz Kid of the Week: Sarah Bandell

Whiz Kid's Name and Age: Sarah Bandell, 15
Whiz Kid's School: The Catholic High School of Baltimore
Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Sarah, a former student at St. Michael the Archangel School in Overlea, made the decision to give back to her alma mater by painting a mural called "Steps to Success" in the school. 

Sarah and Girl Scout Troop 1881 spent Saturdays beginning in February working on the painting.

The mural, located in a staircase in the school's Laboure Building, includes the solar system, a math facts tree, the 13 values codes taught at St. Michaels, as well as 10 Roman numerals that represent the 10 Commandments.

As a result of her leadership role in the project, Sarah was able to complete the Girl Scouts Gold Award, the highest honor a scout 14 to 18 years old can achieve.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: "I really enjoyed painting this mural ... It has taught me how to become a leader and I am proud to have received the highest award that a Girl Scout can earn. I hope to inspire others to challenge themselves to put their talents into action." — Sarah Bandell
