ShopRite Provides Holiday Meals to Parkville Families in Need

Parkville ShopRite customers nominated Parkville-area families still coping with the struggling economy and 100 meal recipients were chosen at random.

This Thanksgiving, 100 Parkville-area families that might not otherwise have been able to enjoy a holiday meal will do so thanks to the generosity of Klein's Family Markets.

The Klein family earlier this year opened the ShopRite grocery store in the Perring Crossing Shopping Center.

Recognizing that many in the community are still struggling in a slowly rebounding economy, store managers took nominations from shoppers for families that, because of economic challenges, would not otherwise be able to provide a Thanksgiving meal for loved ones, according to a statement from the company.

After randomly choosing 100 of the nominations, Marshall Klein, chief operating officer of the family-owned business, helped distribute the meals to the recipients in a gathering held at the Parkville store Nov. 21.

“We are giving back to our communities this holiday season to help make it extra special for our neighbors in need,” Klein said in the statement regarding the event.
