6 Songs To Celebrate Ravens’ Super Bowl Victory

Want to keep the party going? Let Patch help get your the playlist started.

As I sit at my desk in my purple shirt, wearing my purple bandanna on this lovely purple Monday, I began thinking of ways to continue celebrating the Baltimore Ravens’ Super Bowl victory. And what could be better than keeping the festive vibes alive with some music?

Here are six songs that can keep the Ravens party going:

  1. The White Stripes – “Seven Nation Army”
The song has quickly become the Ravens unofficial pump-up song. When Jack White played at the Virgin Mobile Free Fest at Merriweather Post Pavilion this past summer, the crowd proudly sang the song’s “Oh oh oh oh ohhhh oh” in the off-season. And chances are, if you caught live music in Baltimore this weekend, you heard the song. Electro-rock group Conspirator teased the song throughout its set at Baltimore Soundstage Friday, and Cris Jacobs and the Band of Johns started their encore with the song Saturday night at The 8x10. The funk band I play with even busted the song out at our show Saturday night, adding our six-piece horn section to the song’s epic guitar riff.
  2. Queen – “We Are The Champions”
This one is pretty self-explanatory. So don’t forget it Baltimore, we ARE the champions.
  3. Prince – “Purple Rain”
One of Prince’s signature songs, the full version clocks in at 8:45, but was shortened to 4:05 as a single. You can’t deny this song’s poignancy at a time like this, especially after it rained purple confetti at the game. Was cornerback Chykie Brown thinking about this song when he made a snow angel in the confetti? Very possibly.
  4. Sly and the Family Stone – “Underdog”
Haters have been hating on the Ravens all season. Even four of CBS’ five commentators thought we’d lose the game last night. After the victory, plenty of time was spent talking about what San Francisco did wrong rather than what the Ravens did right. Celebrate being victorious underdogs with this funky jam.
  5. Gogol Bordello – “Start Wearing Purple”
While I doubt the gypsy-punk band was thinking of Baltimore when they wrote this song, they hit the nail on the head with how we celebrate when they sing “all your sanity and wits, they will all vanish.” Check out this awesome mash-up video a fan made with this song playing to footage of the Ravens.
  6. Jimi Hendrix – “Purple Haze”
Is purple haze the feeling you get when you wake up Monday morning basking in the glow of the victory? Is it the confusion the San Francisco 49ers face? You decide by rocking out to some Jimi.

Are there other songs that will help you celebrate the Ravens winning the Super Bowl? Tell us in the comments.

Apparently my last comment was flagged. I'll clean it up: Surprise, Surprise, the offer is onlyRead More good for NEW customers. Yet I've been a "loyal" Comcast customer for over 15 years now, never late on a payment nor complained when my service failed or I've had an issue that wasn't resolved without me taking "above and beyond" steps. Comcast is a juggernaut that just doesn't care if once it gets your business. You get locked in and then are stuck until your "contract" expires. Mine expires 2/22/2014 or I could cancel and pay $200. I'm going to hold out and then cut cable all together and just have Internet service so my Rokus work. But Verizon FIOS is looking better by the day.
