Area Student Athletes Shine At CCBC Essex

Girls lacrosse and boys baseball teams get some help from Loch Raven, Parkville students.

CCBC Essex goalie Leanne Bittner () was instrumental in the Knights 18-8 victory over Harford Community College last Thursday. She finished that game with 11 saves as the CCBC Essex women's lacrosse team's turnaround season continued.

The Knights improved to 7-1 on the season following convinicing wins at Niagara County Community College and Genesee Community College in New York on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

After losing its previous 36 games entering the season, CCBC Essex has quickly turned into one of the top junior college programs in the country. The Knights entered the weeked ranked fifth in the nation in the latest NJCAA poll.

CCBC Essex next plays at 4 p.m. Thursday at Howard Community College. The Knights won the last meeting between the two schools, 21-9, on March 13.

CCBC Essex Baseball Sweeps Double-Header

Pitcher Nicholas Morton (Parkville) pitched a five-inning no-hitter in the first game as the Knights defeated visiting Community College of Philadelphia, 16-0 and 24-0, respectively on Sunday.

CCBC Essex (8-6) has won five straight and next plays at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at CCBC Dundalk
