CCBC Men's Soccer Team Headed to National Tournament

The Community College of Baltimore County team earned the berth in the national tourney by winning the NJCAA Region XX title over the weekend.

Congratulations go out to the CCBC Essex men’s soccer team and coaches as they defeated College of Southern Maryland Saturday on penalty kicks 6-5 in the NJCAA Region XX Championship game. 

The Knights jumped off to a 2-0 lead but Southern Maryland fought back to tie the game in regulation 2-2. After a scoreless 20 minutes of sudden death overtime the game went to penalty kicks. The Knights bounced back to outscore Southern Maryland 6-5. 

The team now advances to the NJCAA National Championships in Tyler, Texas, on Nov. 19-24.

The Lady Knights traveled to Westmoreland Community College Saturday to compete in the NJCAA Region XX Championships. The Lady Knights, led by Megan Timchula with a time of 23.06, had seven runners finish in the top 37. 

The team finished 4th in the Maryland JUCO competition and 2nd in the Region XX championships.

Congratulations to Coach Joanna Haug and Assistant Coach Larry Williams and the student athlete’s for an outstanding tournament.

The Women’s volleyball team traveled to Blackhawk East Community College in Illinois to participate in a weekend tournament. On Saturday, The Lady Knights were defeated by Black Hawk East 3-0, St. Ambrose 3-0 and Lake County 3-1.

They returned to action on Sunday and lost to Black Hawk East 3-0 and Danville 3-1. They return to home action today against Northern Virginia Community College at 7 p.m. in the Athletic Wellness Center.
