Loch Raven's Girls Lacrosse Advances to State Semifinals

The state semifinal games will be played this weekend at Bel Air High School.

After four rounds of play, one local girls lacrosse team has been crowned a regional champion and advances to the state semifinals.

The Class 1A/2A North region champion Loch Raven Raiders will travel to Bel Air High School at 8 p.m. Friday to take on West region champs Winters Mill.

To earn the spot in the state semis, the girls crushed Pikesville, 20-7, earlier this week, according to the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association website

While Winters Mill has had to play a total of four games during the playoffs to earn the right to play Loch Raven, the Raiders should be fresh having earned a first-round bye and a second-round forfeit victory against Overlea.

Aside from the game against Pikesville this week, Loch Raven has had to go through Sparrows Point, the first-seed in the North region, on the way to Bel Air High School.

A victory over Winters Mill would see the girls travel to UMBC Stadium in Catonsville either Tuesday or Wednesday, where they would face the winner of this weekend's Fallston-Easton semifinal matchup.
