Parkville Rec Football to Show Its Spirit Today at Double Rock Park

Football games begin at the Parkville park at 9:45 a.m. and end at 10 p.m.

If you've been dying to see some football but don't have the money or the contacts to snag Ravens tickets, Parkville Recreation Council's pigskin program has the solution.

Double Rock Park will host the program's Spirit Day today, with the first game beginning at 9:45 a.m. and the last ending at 10:00 p.m., according to program volunteer Joe Benedetta.

"We will be announcing players and cheerleaders before their games and the cheerleaders will be doing routines during halftimes," Benedetta wrote in an email to Parkville Patch. "We are trying to make this day a little special for the players."

The event will also serve as a fundraiser in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, according to Benedetta.

Among other fundraisers, a bucket will be set up for folks to drop in donations.

Benedetta has promised to don a cheerleader uniform and perform a halftime cheer if donations exceed $500.

He plans to lead his cheer during the halftime of the 10-and-under blue game—around 2:30 p.m. or so—if donations reach the goal.

All are welcome to attend the games. The program's concession stand will be open—have lunch and make a day of it.
