It's safe to say the Baltimore area has a case of purple fever, and the only prescription is a Lombardi trophy.
The Baltimore Ravens are again a game away from a trip to the Super Bowl, and again that road goes through the New England Patriots, who the Ravens face for the AFC championship next Sunday in Foxborough, MA at 6:30 p.m.
ESPN reports that Accuscore again has the Ravens as underdogs—in 1,000 simulations, the Patriots win 69 percent of the time. Last week, Accuscore's simulations showed the Denver Broncos winning 64 percent of the time, and most analysts nationwide were picking Denver to win in the divisional matchup.
The Ravens, of course, won that game Saturday, 38-35 in double overtime after a deep game-tying pass from Joe Flacco to Jacoby Jones in the final minute of regulation and a 47-yard field goal by Justin Tucker in the beginning of the second overtime.
Wagers between Baltimore-area and Foxborough-area officials for Sunday's game haven't been made public, but speaking of wagers, The Denver Post reports that city's mayor was injured warming up to do Ray Lewis' signature dance, part of his end of a wager with Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
