Friday Concert Series Kicks Off In Parkville

The weekly concert series is one of a few events aimed at bringing folks to Parkville's Main Street this weekend.

If you're looking for live music, Parkville's Main Street is a good place to start this weekend.

Friday evening marks the first in a series of concerts organized by the Parkville-Carney Business Association and country/rock/blues band the Wretched Outcasts will rock Parkville's Lavender Avenue parking lot from 5-8 p.m.

Business association and Parkville Main Street Committee member Chris McDermott of Signs 2 Day recently posted to the Parkville Main Street Facebook page that food and beer are available at the event as well.

The concert, part of a series running weekly on Friday nights through the end of June, is only one of the events designed to draw people to the Harford Road area this weekend.

Also debuting Friday evening at the former location of the Atlantic Seafood Deli, 7810 Harford Road next to Jerry D's Restaurant, is a pop-up store featuring arts and crafts from local artists.

The shop, a brain child of the Parkville Main Street Committee, will be open from 5-8 p.m. and is located directly across the street from the concert.

Finally, on Saturday morning the Main Street Committee invites people to bring  their "well-behaved dogs on a short leash with clean-up bags and a smile," to the second annual Parkville Pup Crawl.

From 10-11 a.m. dog lovers will get together on the front lawn of the Parkville Recreation Center, 8601 Harford Road, for a series of contests including with prizes awarded from Main Street merchants like Fractured Prune, Nature's Pantry, and Restore Computer Services.

Participants will take a stroll along Harford Road to Taylor Avenue and back with their four-footed friends.
