Parkville Rec Dance Team to Perform At Ironbirds Game

Girls from Parkville Rec's Dance X-treme and Dance Power programs will take the field Monday night.

After practicing an 8-minute choreographed dance routine for just a month, girls and women from Parkville Rec's Dance X-tremes and Dance Power program will take the field at on Monday.

Program organizer Linda Brice told Patch that the group was invited to perform before the game after the team donated items for a raffle at the dance program's end-of-year recital.

"It's very exciting to be able to perform at stadium," Brice said. "Our girls have been practicing their hearts out two nights a week for the last month to prepare for this."

The girls, who range in age from 5 to 25, will take the field around 6:50 p.m., Brice said. Tickets for the Monday game against the Batavia Muckdogs are available on the Ironbirds' website.

I'm looking forward to seeing these girls perform at the game. The program's instructors put many hours into not just the practices and perfomances but the choreographing, promoting and administrative duties that are required to have the success they enjoy. These kids love what they do and there is a strong student-teacher bond enabling them to excel that runs throughout both programs. The senior teacher of Dance X-Treme, Michelle Falls, has been with the program for 16 years and founded the competition squad, Parkville Dance Power. Other long term instructors include Lindsay Eastman and Heather Hershel-Spilker. These programs are also blessed with strong parent support and participation in addition to the devotion and dedication of the chairperson, Linda Brice. Those attending Monday night's game are in for a treat!!

I am so very proud of our dancers! Without our teahcers Michelle Falls, Lindsay Eastman, Heather Spilker and Erica Strausner this would not have been possible! They work so hard year after year to make our program what it is. The love they have for our children is priceless! We truly have the best kids, teachers and parents! Dance X-treme and Dance Power are one big family! Good luck girls! Go out there and do what you love and do best.... dance your hearts out!!
