Parkville Towne Fair To Feature First Ever Beer Garden

Fair leadership recently secured a one-day liquor license to be able to serve beer at the Towne Fair.

It's a year for big changes at the long-running Parkville Towne Centre Fair.

First the Parkville Carney Business Professional Association, the group that organizes the 26-year-old festival, announced that the fair was being moved from Sunday to Saturday; now fair organizers have announced that for the first time ever the event will include a beer garden.

Preliminary discussions among organizers have suggested Lavender Avenue, a side street off Harford Road near Taylor Avenue, as the location for the beer garden, according to Michael Tull, the business association's president.

Beer from Maryland's Flying Dog brewery will be provided and served by staff from nearby , Tull said.

The Parkville Towne Centre Fair will be held Sept. 8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and portions of Harford Road will be closed as a result.

Will you attend the Parkville Towne Centre Fair this year? What do you think about the addition of a beer garden to the festival? Tell us in the comments.

They should have real beer, not this fancy over-priced stuff!

The fair hasnt had beer all these years!!! Why now????? So now problems can be caused when people get too drunk.... It was fine without the beer

Why don't they set it up in front of the former Burke's Pharmacy?

What you really mean is: This is awesome! Thanks to Racers and the TownFair for providing real beer. :)

Flying Dog is real beer...please tell me you don't think real beer is all that domestic stuff

Beer garden sounds like a great addition to the fair. They should have a domestic beer as well as the Flying Dog, everyone will be happy.

Flying Dog is brewed in Frederick. You can't get more domestic than that.

Racers sells Miller Lite too, but Skip doesn't like it when you order it. Flying Dog is ok, but I like the idea to have both so more people will be happy. I have been a resident of Parkville for 7 years, and never been to this event. I might just have to come now. If someone gets out of line at fair like this because of a beer garden, then shame on them.

If the Perry Hall Towne Fair has as many cops patrolling as the Perry Hall Fair did, there won't be any problems.

I am so tired of going to these small fairs and seeing only domestic, mass produced lite beer. Thank you Parkville Fair for taking it to a new level. Anybody who wants the other stuff can always go to Jerry D's.

My favorite kind of gardening...

Actually, you can get a little more domestic. Clipper City is in Baltimore and has great beer also. (Nitpicking, I know.)

I think it's a terrific idea and I will be onhand to partake in the festivities! Thanks Parkville for this great addition to an already GREAT town fair.
