Business Association Continues Collection for Eastside Shelter

During the month of May the Overlea-Fullerton Business Professional Association is collecting perishable and non-perishable food items for the Eastside Family Emergency Shelter.

The Eastside Family Emergency Shelter on Franklin Square Drive is in need of food this month, and the Overlea-Fullerton Business Professional Association is looking to help.

In a newsletter emailed Sunday morning, association President Donna Bethke asked that members drop off donations at (7989 Rossville Blvd.), (7927 Belair Rd.), White Springs Townhomes (7935 Belridge Road) or at the CCBC Essex Eastside Occupational Training Center (439 Eastern Ave).

A list of items the shelter needs came attached to the newsletter and includes:

  • Kid’s flavored cereal
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Food staples (mustard, ketchup, mayo, etc.) 
  • Canned fruits
  • Canned vegetables
  • Flour, sugar, brown sugar, salt,
  • Cake mixes, icing, brownie mix, cookie mix
  • Lunch snacks (pudding, Jell-O, snack packs)
  • Gift cards from Sam’s Club are welcome

In addition, the email said, the shelter can always use gift cards to Sam's Club, perishable food items (milk, juice, eggs, etc.) and paper products (plates, napkins, etc.).

The Overlea-Fullerton Business Professional Association has been supporting the shelter since February when it took up a collection for baby-related items.

Operated by the Community Action Network, the Eastside Family Emergency Shelter is one of Baltimore County's largest shelters—housing intact families, single parents with their children and single women—in a 150-bed facility.
