Group Gets Closer to 'Taking a Bite out of Crime'

The Parkville Police Communtiy Relations Council is about halfway to raising the funds they need to buy a McGruff costume for its group.

When the Parkville Police Community Relations Council met back in December, then-president Wayne Definbaugh announced that one of its 

Nine months later, the group is about halfway to raising the $1,700 necessary to buy the iconic outfit, including the mask and trenchcoat. On Sept. 18, the group got its latest in a long list of donations — handed over a check for $200 in conjunction with .

Along with the proceeds from and a generous personal donation on behalf of Carney Improvement Association president () Meg O'Hare, the group has about $800 to go.

It won't be long before the group no longer has to borrow the costume from neighbors in White Marsh when the group wants to hold a kid-friendly event.
