VIDEO: Forgotten McCormick/Councilman Cemetery

The Paranormal Investigation Society of Maryland posted this video to Youtube, highlighting a forgotten cemetery in the Elmwood neighborhood.

Tucked between Councilman and McCormick Avenues in the Overlea area is an old family cemetery.

"This cemetery was once an overgrown eyesore, filled with rubbish, inundated with poison ivy, and long forgotten," according to the video description.

But, the description continues: "Over the past few years, the community has taken back the cemetery, and try to keep it clean. Although there are several missing and broken headstones, the cemetery is a work in progress."

The video was uploaded by Jim Jones, the founder of and chief investigator for the Paranormal Research and Investigation Society of Maryland.

"Paranormal certainly comes into it, but some of us are historians," Jones said. Jones explained that there are many small, forgotten family cemeteries around Baltimore County.

"We're trying to preserve these places for future generations," Jones said.
