Kids Back in School, Jewelry Demonstration Class, Cooper Needs a Home

Here's information to get your week in Parkville started.

1. The Weather: Go figure. As soon as kids return to Baltimore County classrooms, temperatures will transition from unseasonably cool to what they should be this time of year—hot. Monday will be mostly sunny, with a high of about 84 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday will see the chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8 a.m., and the high is expected to be about 88. Wednesday will see more chances of rain, with a high near 88, and the rest of the week will see daytime highs in the high 80s.

2. From history.com's This Day in History: "On this day in 1939, the first televised Major League baseball game is broadcast on station W2XBS, the station that was to become WNBC-TV. Announcer Red Barber called the game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, New York."

Also on this day, Charles Lindbergh died (1974) and Home Alone star Macauley Culkin was born (1980).

3. Children return to the classrooms of schools across Greater Dundalk today. Please watch out for students walking to and from schools, and obey the laws about stopping for school buses as they pick up and discharge their passengers.

4. Cooper is available for adoption at the Baltimore County Animal Shelter in Baldwin.

5. A jewelry demonstration class will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Overlea-Fullerton Senior Center.
