St. Ursula Open House, Events Honoring Veterans, Snow This Week?

1. The Weather: Whether you're ready for this news or not, there is a chance of rain and snow showers this week, according to the National Weather Service. 

Monday—Veterans Day—is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high of about 56. Things will turn suddenly, with a 40 percent chance of rain and snow showers after midnight and an overnight low of about 36 degrees.

Tuesday will bring more rain and snow showers—or at least a 30 percent of precipitation—with a daytime high of 43. Tuesday night is expected to be mostly clear, with a low of about 28.

The rest of the week will be mostly clear, with daytime highs ranging from 43 to 53 degrees and overnight lows ranging from 28 to 37.

Just in time for some weekend fun, Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high about 57.

2. From history.com's This Day in History: "On this day in 1969, "Sesame Street," a pioneering TV show that would teach generations of young children the alphabet and how to count, makes its broadcast debut. "Sesame Street," with its memorable theme song ("Can you tell me how to get/How to get to Sesame Street"), went on to become the most widely viewed children's program in the world. It has aired in more than 120 countries."

Also on this date in 1975, the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald sank 17 miles from the entrance to Whitefish Bay on Lake Superior, killing all 29 crew members aboard.

3. St. Ursula School will hold its fall open house, beginning at 8:30 a.m. today (Monday, Nov. 11).

4. Thankful Paws will hold a veterans appreciation event and blessing of the animals from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Harford Park Community Hall. 

5. The Overlea-Fullerton Senior Center will hold its annual Veterans Day breakfast at 9:15 a.m. Monday. The meal is free for all veterans who are senior center members and $3 for all others.
