Carney Community to Thank, Honor Veterans on Sunday

The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at the Carney Veterans Memorial on the Carney Elementary School campus.

The Carney community will gather Sunday afternoon for its annual ceremony to remember and honor military veterans.

Residents are invited to gather at the Carney Veterans Memorial (at 6th Avenue and Joppa Road, on the Carney Elementary School campus) at 2 p.m. Nov. 10.

Sam Magee, a Perry Hall Eagle Scout candidate, made the memorial his Eagle Scout project, according to Carney Improvement Association President Meg O'Hare. The memorial bricks were cleaned and benches donated by Joe Bartenfelder were refurbished.

"We are very grateful to this young man for his work and the work of his fellow Boy Scouts on this project," O'Hare said in an email to Parkville Patch.
