Two people living at the Belair Road address were assaulted during the robbery.
A television was stolen from an Overlea home during a home invasion robbery last Friday. Around 9:30 a.m. May 18, a man forced his way into a home in the 7000 block of Belair Road, according to a police report. Once inside the robber struck a resident in the head and face using a black replica Colt MKIV BB gun. Following the assault, the robber left the home but later returned, the report states. On the second trip the robber kicked open the front door, breaking the door frame, and stole a 32-inch flatscreen Sony television, the report states. The robber is described as a white man in his 20s or 30s, approximately 5'10" and 190 pounds with a medium build, the report states. He was last seen wearing a black mask, dark blue sweatshirt, blue …

Glen Arm Glen Arm Road, 11900 block. Between 9 and 10 a.m. May 21. A change purse, $10 cash, and bank cards were stolen from a home. Burglars got inside by prying open a sliding door. Once inside the home, glass panels were moved to allow access to a door handle that opened a family room. The burglar then had to pry open a door leading into the kitchen, where the above listed items were stolen. Cub Hill Cub Hill Road, 2800 block. At 11:22 a.m. May 23. Burglars entered a home through an unlocked door and broke out a window. Parkville Park Drive, 7400 block. At 12:45 p.m. May 23. The spending plan contains no income or property tax increases.
The Baltimore County Council unanimously approved a $2.8 billion spending plan proposed last month by County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. The budget for the year that begins July 1 contains no property or personal income tax increases. The county has not raised property taxes in 25 years. The county income tax rate has not been raised in 21 years. Spending on education continues to represent the largest portion of the county budget. The county spends about 53 cents of every county tax dollar on K-12 education. The Baltimore County Council lowers open space waiver fees charged to developers but gives more money to a group that protects open space in urban areas.
Developers will pay a little less to side-step open space requirements for residential projects but a group that helps protect open spaces in urban areas of the county will get a bigger cut under a bill passed by the Baltimore County Council. The council Thursday approved the bill that lowers the county's open space waiver fees. As part of the bill, the council also approved an amendment sponsored by Councilmen Quirk and David Marks that will give NeighborSpace of Baltimore County 20 percent of the fees collected. Six of the seven councilmen voted in favor of the bill. Council Chairman Tom Quirk voted against the measure. Prior to the passage of the bill Thursday, NeighborSpace could receive up to 10 percent of the waiver fees collected …

Danzations, based at Parkville Recreation Council, is seeking a new teacher for Saturday classes.
If you love to dance and you love to teach, you might be the perfect fit for a local dance program. Parkville Rec Council's Danzations program needs an instructor for Saturday morning classes during the upcoming school year. Beth Smith Webster, the program's organizer, wrote to Patch through Facebook that Danzations needs a teacher from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturdays for a jazz, tap and ballet class aimed at 3-7 year olds. Previous experience as a dance instructor and reliable transportation are required, Webster wrote. Anyone interested in the position should contact her at Danzations@comcast.net.
AAA: Despite lower gas prices, sequestration is affecting family travel budgets.
Fewer Maryland motorists are expected to travel this year, but Memorial Day weekend 2013 will still be one of the busiest of the past 12 years, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic. “It appears changing current economic conditions as a result of sequestration, which has impacted the wallets of many, may be influencing some residents’ uneasiness to travel this Memorial Day holiday,” said Ragina C. Averella, manager of public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic. More than 718,000 Marylanders are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home this weekend—down 1.2 percent from Memorial Day weekend 2012. AAA estimates 91 percent of those traveling will go by motor vehicle, with the average roundtrip totaling 737 miles—up from 570 miles last …
