Police Identify Middle River Man Struck by MARC Train

Robert Ey, 26, of the 900 block of Middlesex Road, was struck and killed by the train May 1.

A 26-year-old Middle River man has been identified as the person struck and killed May 1 by a MARC train. Baltimore County police said Robert Ey, of the 900 block of Middlesex Road, was walking south on the tracks around 7:15 a.m. when a train traveling about 100 mph hit him near Northeast Creek Road and Schaefer Lane in Rosedale. According to a police news release, investigators ruled Ey's death an accident. The accident caused delays for commuters, who had to be transferred to another train. Many passengers described the moments after the accident to Patch through interviews, emails and blog posts. With no other means of transportation some people have to walk. And by walking to go the shortest means possible. But it doesn't mean that it's always safeway. Kids have been known to cross through those tracks to get to school. Amtrak and police know this. They should make it safe for crossing.   more ›
