Prayers from the Archdiocese of Baltimore include "an end to violence and terror."
Archbishop William E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, issued the following statement on the tragedy in Boston April 15: "On behalf of the priests and faithful of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, I offer prayers for those who lost their lives today and for those who were injured in the violent attack in Boston. Our prayers are with them as well as their families and loved ones, just as we pray too for an end to violence and terror throughout the world. May the love of our compassionate Savior be with all who were impacted by this tragedy.”
The properties are primarily located in North Baltimore communities.
Federal law enforcement officials are seeking to seize six properties in North Baltimore and Baltimore County owned by a woman accused of luring other women to work as prostitutes in the area, according to court documents filed by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland. The properties are all at least partially owned by Di Zhang, 42, of the 100 block of Edgerton Rd, in Towson, who has been charged with human trafficking and prostitution in Baltimore County District Court. Zhang was arrested on March 8 along with her boyfriend, Yi Dian Dong, 54, who also faces charges of human trafficking and prostitution in Baltimore County. Despite efforts on all sides to make an Orioles and Ravens doubleheader happen on Sept. 5, the Super Bowl champions will now open their season on the road. In the last few years, the Super Bowl champions have been granted the privilege of opening the season in prime time at home on Thursday. But because of a conflict with a previously scheduled O’s game the Ravens will now open on the road. Traditionally the Super Bowl champions get to play at home on the opening night of the season, but a scheduling conflict with the Orioles may make that impossible for the Ravens. The NFL would like to schedule the Ravens to open at home on Sept. 5, but the Orioles already have a home game with the Chicago White Sox.
