The properties are primarily located in North Baltimore communities.
Federal law enforcement officials are seeking to seize six properties in North Baltimore and Baltimore County owned by a woman accused of luring other women to work as prostitutes in the area, according to court documents filed by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland. The properties are all at least partially owned by Di Zhang, 42, of the 100 block of Edgerton Rd, in Towson, who has been charged with human trafficking and prostitution in Baltimore County District Court. Zhang was arrested on March 8 along with her boyfriend, Yi Dian Dong, 54, who also faces charges of human trafficking and prostitution in Baltimore County. The Orioles are scheduled to start a series in Baltimore with the Chicago White Sox on the day the NFL wanted to start its season.
Despite efforts on all sides to make an Orioles and Ravens doubleheader happen on Sept. 5, the Super Bowl champions will now open their season on the road. In the last few years, the Super Bowl champions have been granted the privilege of opening the season in prime time at home on Thursday. But because of a conflict with a previously scheduled O’s game the Ravens will now open on the road. Both Baltimore teams released statements to the media praising each other for their cooperation in trying to overcome the conflict. The games would also be coming on the heels of the city hosting the third Baltimore Grand Prix from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1. Ravens Statement from President Dick Cass: "After thorough discussions among the Orioles, the NFL and …

The NFL would like the Ravens to open their season at home on Sept. 5, but the O’s already have a game scheduled.
Traditionally the Super Bowl champions get to play at home on the opening night of the season, but a scheduling conflict with the Orioles may make that impossible for the Ravens. The NFL would like to schedule the Ravens to open at home on Sept. 5, but the Orioles already have a home game with the Chicago White Sox. Moving the Ravens game back a day is not an option because of Rosh Hashanah. Vote in our poll and tell us how you'd handle it. Have a better idea? Share it with a comment below.

The annual running of the Preakness Stakes is the largest event held in North Baltimore.
For an event often associated with imbibing, it makes a certain amount of sense to name the pitchman for a popular beer the headliner of Preakness InfieldFest. Pitbull, a recording artist who appears in Bud Light commercials, as well as hip-hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, will headline this year’s Preakness InfieldFest set for May 18. The Maryland Jockey Club announced the performers for the InfieldFest, a party held in the infield of Pimlico Race Course during Preakness, in a news release on Monday. "InfieldFest at the Preakness enters its fifth year positioned as the region’s biggest, best and most unique party," Maryland Jockey Club President Tom Chuckas said in a news release. "There is no other event where fans can revel so …

Cory McCray, an Overlea resident, occasionally blogs on Patch about labor issues.
Cory McCray, who occasionally blogs about labor issues on Patch, wants to be appointed to replace longtime Del. Hattie Harrison, who died last week. McCray, an Overlea resident, sent an email to possible supporters announcing that he had submitted his resume to the Baltimore City Democratic State Central Committee to be considered to fill the open seat in the 45th District. "I understand that this interview process to fill the vacancy in the Maryland General Assembly for the 45th Legislative District is an uphill battle and an inside game, but many of the accomplishments of the last decade have been against the odds. I believe that with my strong family, hard working community leaders, and diligent neighbors within the 45th Legislative …
