Boordy Vineyards Launches Sustainable Happy Hour

The Hydes winery takes a unique approach to a popular after-work tradition.

The Baltimore metro area has no shortage of bars and restaurants offering happy hour. Now, a local winery is joining the mix. Today Boordy Vineyards kicks off 'Good Life Thursdays,' a weekly event that combines dinner, drinks and music with the local produce you'd expect from a farmer's market, according to its website.  The Hydes winery, located just up Harford Road on Long Green Pike, is hosting the sustainable happy hour from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays until Sept. 6, the website states. A different musical act will be featured each week: tonight Chalk Dust Trio will perform. Vendors include Gunpowder Bison, Kilby Creamery and One Straw Farm. Four new restaurants are expected to open at White Marsh Mall between spring and fall of 2012.

Does shopping make you hungry? If so, prepare for a few more options. Four new restaurants are coming to between spring and fall 2012, including The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille, mall officials announced Tuesday.  Greene Turtle, an East Coast chain sports bar, offering burgers, wings and sliders, is expected to open in fall 2012. Brittany Ritko, an Overlea resident, has worked at the Fractured Prune for the last five years—since she was a sophomore in high school. "I really like working here," she said. Now a junior at CCBC Essex, Brittany has seen the business change hands, as it did back in April leading to more consistent hours. Under new ownership, the business is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for all your doughnut needs. On a Thursday afternoon, Brittany was making fresh…
