The shooting occurred Monday in an Overlea area neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
A man has been arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder following the shooting of a 23-year-old man and his 4-year-old daughter in the Elmwood community on Tuesday. Resean Penix, 23, of the 5700 block of Leiden Road, faces two counts each of attempted first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment as well as two charges related to the use of a handgun in a violent crime, according to a search of online court records. Penix is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, court records show; a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. May 3 in Baltimore County District Court. Elmwood Mawani Road, 4700 block. Between 7 a.m. and 4:25 p.m. Jan. 30. Cash and jewelry were stolen from a home. Burglars got inside the house through a side window. Cedmont McFaul Road, 5100 block. Between 11 a.m. and 9:45 p.m. Feb. 1. A home was ransacked but nothing appeared to have been stolen. Burglars got inside through a rear window. Cynthia Terrace, 5600 block. Between 12:30 and 6 p.m. Feb. 1. A laptop computer and a jar of coins were stolen from a home. Burglars broke in through a basement window.

Police remain uncertain whether or not two burglaries in the Elmwood neighborhood are related—the information on those burglaries is listed below. Capt. Michael Balog at White March Precinct is asking that anyone with information about the burglaries or suspicious vehicles or people in the neighborhood contact police. Overlea W. Overlea Avenue, 100 block. Between 11 p.m. Aug. 12 and 7 a.m. Aug 13 A 2003 Mitsubishi Galant was stolen. The vehicle was recovered in the 5600 block of Bucknell Road in Baltimore City on Aug. 15. Elmwood Marglenn Road, 6100 block. Between 12 p.m. Aug. 10 and 11:30 a.m. Aug. 11. $3,500 worth of copper pipes were stolen from a vacant house. Burglars got into the house by forcing open a side door.
