The popular cake and candy supply store celebrates 35 years later this month.
Moving back into Fullerton was something of a homecoming for Cake & Wedding Cottage and its owner Tammy Mansberger. The shop has only been at 7076 Belair Road in Belair Beltway Plaza for about 6 months; before the 22-year-long run in Perry Hall near Silver Spring Road, though, they had a home in the same shopping center near the present location of Betty Brite Cleaners, Mansberger said. In fact Mansberger, a Perry Hall native, worked there as a teenager when her cousins Donna and Charlie Parrish ran the family business. “Our business began in a little house in Kingsville, at the corner of Belair and Sunshine Avenue … it looks like a cottage, it’s still there,” Mansberger said. “We’ve always been on the Belair Road corridor. This is a …

What would you like to see in this commercial vacancy?
The lot facing Belair Road between Belhaven Drive and Delight Avenue has sat vacant since the McDonald's store that once occupied it was demolished late last year. Today, I'm curious as to what you think would be a good fit for this commercial vacancy the Overlea-Fullerton area. The lot, which is offered for sale by Colliers International for $635,000, is approximately 2.2 acres. Currently, almost an entire acre of the property is zoned for business use while the remaining space is zoned for up to 5.5 homes per acre. Information on the Colliers listing for the property says the property has up to 25,710 cars drive by every day. What business do you think would be a good fit for the Overlea-Fullerton neighborhood in this location? Tell us …

What would you like to see in this commercial vacancy.
A Verizon Wireless store has moved out of Belair Belway Village. Signs in the windows encourage customers to visit a nearby location on Martin Boulevard in Middle River. According to the website for MacKenzie Commercial Realty, 2,400 square feet of space are available in the shopping center and the rent for the space is negotiable. A new business would share the shopping center with Sleepy's, a matress store, The Goldfather gold buyers and GEICO. A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the Goldfather had vacated the space next to the former Verizon Wireless. Patch regrets the error. What business do you think would be a good fit for this shopping center? Tell us in the comments.

That McDonalds was there forever. I went there as a little girl when it was the old red and white building and hamburgers were 10 cents. Geez, I'm getting old! I'd be curious to know why it left too. Boston Market would be good, and Sherri is right, those two locations are the closest. However, I know it was a nightmare getting in and out of that parking lot. So something with high traffic might …   more ›
