Jennifer Branch Committee Seeking Stream Clean-Up Volunteers

A sub-committee of the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy is looking for neighbors to help clean up waterways next weekend.

A staggering half-ton of garbage was pulled out of streams that feed Jennifer Branch and ultimately the Gunpowder River during last year's Better Waterways Fall Cleanup. The Jennifer Branch Committee, a sub-group of the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy's Jennifer Branch Project, is again looking for volunteers to assist with the Nov. 17 stream clean-ups taking place in Parkville, Carney, Cub Hill and Perry Hall. "We're trying to get people to adopt a stream in the area and clean it up," Lancaster said. "There’s been a focus on Jennifer Branch—right now there’s a focus because there’s a restoration program for it." We need this for Honeygo Run as well. The Snyder Road park portion of the run is completely full of trash (large and small) and the Honeygo Park portion is still pretty bad with large debris from the times when the Snyder and Kahl families allowed open dumping there.   more ›
