UPDATED: Joppa Road Salvation Army Fire Controlled Quickly

Mary Buckley, a director of operations for the Salvation Army, said the store was on fire when the first employee arrived.

UPDATE (1:37 p.m.) — No one was injured when a blaze broke out at the Salvation Army store, 1748 E. Joppa Road, Wednesday morning. Ten fire companies and 40 personnel arrived on the scene to combat the blaze at 8:45 a.m., according to Baltimore County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Bruce Schultz. Fire crews were met with heavy smoke and a fire at the back of the store, Schultz said. The fire was placed under control by 9:20 a.m. and no one was injured. While responding to the scene, a fire engine was involved in an accident but no one was injured, Schultz said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Schultz.
