La Cakerie Expanding Space, Rolling Out Food Truck

The Towson bakery is also introducing more savory menu items.

La Cakerie has only been open for just more than a month, but the downtown Towson bakery already has some big changes in store. Owner Jason Hisley, a Parkville resident who won Food Network's Cupcake Wars in 2011, said Wednesday that the bakery will expand its space at 49 W. Chesapeake Avenue and introduce more savory menu items. Chesapeake Ave. in mid-October. The bakery will specialize in morning pastries such as croissants, cupcakes and other desserts and savory items such as gourmet pretzels. "I'm really hoping to bring in a European flair," said Hisley, who earned a bachelor's degree in baking and pastry arts, and has trained in bakeries throughout Europe.
