A Parkville man who pleaded guilty to transportation of a minor to engage in sex and conspiracy to produce child pornography has been sentenced to 27 years in prison. John Andrew Blaes, 49, of the 8600 block of Wendell Avenue was sentenced Tuesday afternoon by U.S. District Judge James K Bredar, according to a news release from the Office of the US Attorney for Maryland. Bredar also ordered that upon his release Blaes must register as a sex offender. Blaes and his then-girlfriend Margaret Ellen Jones both admitted in court that during July 2011 Blaes solicited a 15-year-old North Carolina girl to have sex with them, according to the news release. A Parkville woman has pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday to charges that she conspired with her then-boyfriend to produce child pornography. Margaret Ellen Jones, 37, of the 8600 block of Wendell Avenue entered the plea in federal court before U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar. She faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison for conspiracy to produce child pornography, followed by up to a lifetime of supervised release, according to a news release from the office of Maryland U.S. Attorney Rod J. A Parkville man pleaded guilty in federal court on Wednesday to charges stemming from an incident where he and a woman allegedly enslaved a teenage girl for sex. John Andrew Blaes, 49, of the 8600 block of Wendell Avenue in Parkville pleaded guilty to conspiracy to produce child pornography and transporting a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct, The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced in a press release. Blaes faces a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 30 years in prison for the conspiracy charge and 10 years to life in prison for the transportation charge, followed by up to a lifetime of supervised release, the release states. UPDATE (3:16 p.m.)—A Parkville couple accused of treating a 15-year-old North Carolina girl as a sex slave faces more than a dozen state and federal charges, authorities said. A federal indictment, handed down May 9, charges John Andrew Blaes, 48, and Margaret Ellen Jones, 36, with transporting a minor across state lines for sexual purposes, as well as producing and distributing child pornography. Blaes and Jones, who lived together at Blaes' home in the 8600 block of Wendell Ave., at the time of the alleged crimes, met online in 2010 and became involved in a sexual relationship involving "bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism," according to the indictment.
