Only Loch Raven Left Standing In Girls B-Ball Tourney

Play continues in the MPSSAA girls basketball state championship tournaments on Wednesday.

Three local schools had girl's teams take the court for the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association basketball championship tournament. After two rounds of play, only one of those teams remains. The Loch Raven Raiders, who won 62-59 in their home contest against Edmondson/Westside Monday night, will play again on Wednesday night when the third round of the tournament begins, according to the MPSSAA website. Loch Raven (No. 4) travels to Randallstown for third round play; if Loch Raven wins, they'll take on the winner of a game between Owings Mills (No. 2) and Chesapeake (No. 3) this weekend. Parkville-Overlea Schools Compete In MPSSAA Basketball Tournament

Parkville, Overlea and Loch Raven High Schools will vie for region titles in the MPSSAA tournament, which begins next week.

It's time again for the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association region tournament in both boys and girls basketball. Check out where your local team is playing when the tournament kicks off next week. Boys Basketball Class 3A — Parkville The 12th-seed Parkville Knights take on Patterson (No. 5) at Patterson on Feb. 26. If the Knights advance they will play the winner of a contest between C. Milton Wright (No. 4) and Woodlawn (No. 13) on Feb. 28. Class 2A — Loch Raven The No. 1 seed Raiders have a first round bye and will play the winner of a contest between Owings Mills (No. 8) and Lansdowne (No. 9) at home on Feb. 28.
