The craft stands was a wonderful idea. Love that we are helping our local businesses:) However, AGAIN, what is with every event containing alcohol? I am not against drinking but there are already 4 bars on that corner. If we are trying to create a family atmosphere and give them more to do then maybe we should stop with all the alcohol! All it Does is promote under aged drinking and driving home.   more ›

Community Group To Host Oktoberfest Fundraiser

On Saturday you can do three of the best things at once: support Parkville's Main Street initiative while eating German food and enjoying a beer.

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, check out the Parkville Main Street Committee's Oktoberfest event at Racer's Saturday afternoon. The event, held at Racer's Cafe from 3-7 p.m., will benefit the Parkville Main Street Committee—a subgroup of the Greater Parkville Community Council that aims to revitalize the Harford Road business district. A $10 cover at the door includes a souvenir pint glass, a platter of German style food, live entertainment—a band called the Wretched Outlaws will perform— and your first beer. Visions for Vacancies: Burke's Pharmacy

What would you like to see in this vacant commercial space?

Ever since Burke's Pharmacy closed late in 2011, there's been a hole to be filled at 8500 Harford Road, the pharmacy's former home. According to a Baltimore Sun article published last October, owner Pat Burke made the decision to close the Parkville location along with a Burke's Pharmacy in Reisterstown and Chestnut AID pharmacy in Hampden. The question now is what would you like to see take Burke's place? An online real estate listing says that the 3,000 square foot building is available for lease at a rate of $3,450 per month and that you could buy the building (including two upstairs apartments and a "garage warehouse") for $549,000. Do you miss Burke's Pharmacy? Is there a type of business missing from this part of Parkville? What do …

The community is really ready for the second phase of the Parkville revitalization project." To Messier and the other members of the Main Street Committee, like Greater Parkville Community Council president Ruth Baisden, that second …
