Wells Fargo Moves Into, GameStop Out Of Parkville Shopping Center

The bank is moving into the location formerly occupied by the membership office for a new gym, while the video game retailer will close its location.

As a new business moves into Parkville Shopping Center, an old one is moving out. A Wells Fargo branch will soon arrive in the shopping center, located at 7601 Harford Road, in a space formerly occupied by the membership office for the newly opened Fitness 19 gym. The bank will be the third in the shopping center, joining a Bank of America branch and a Suntrust branch. Meanwhile, a nearby GameStop store is in the process of closing its doors. The 51-year old shopping center, anchored by a new Giant Food store, was renovated in 2012. Currently four storefronts sit vacant—the former locations of Buffalo Wings & Beer, Linen World, Postman Plus and Quiznos. Gamestop's departure will create a fifth vacancy. Regency Centers, which manages the …

Sweet Peach FroYo To Open Soon, Now Hiring

The frozen yogurt shop in Parkville Shopping Center will open early next week.

The owners of Sweet Peach Premium Frozen Yogurt anticipate opening the doors of their new shop to the public early next week. A grand opening event is scheduled for Sept. 17, according to operating partner Ricky Chen. All that remains is to finish installing the freezers that will hold the 16 flavors available at any given time at the shop—the opening flavor lineup includes original tart, cookies and cream, pineapple, peach, strawberry and cheesecake, among others. Chen said that Sweet Peach will feature low-fat, non-fat and low sugar options for the diet-conscious eater in need of a sweet treat. "We'll also have 45 different toppings—cereals, fresh cut fruit, and syrups," Chen said. In addition, the shop is looking to hire a few more …

Regency Looking for Input On New Shopping Center Tenants

Parkville Shopping Center is undergoing a renovation and Regency Centers, the company that owns the center, is using the crowdsourcing website Popularise to get input on new tenants.

What would you build here? That's the question Regency Centers is asking Parkvillians about Parkville Shopping Center. The property management company is using the crowdsourcing website Popularise to solicit ideas from the people who shop at Parkville Shopping Center. So far, about ten people have jumped into the discussion, talking about what businesses would be a good fit for the neighborhood. More than one user has suggested a pet store, while others are locked in a debate about whether or not the center should have more chain retailers and restaurants. The crowdsourcing initiative is part of a $1.7 million dollar renovation underway at the shopping center. "Given the center's location inside the Beltway just outside of Baltimore, …

Parkville Shopping Center Renovation Under Way

Work began on restoring the 51-year-old center early last week.

If you stop by Parkville Shopping Center you'll probably notice that some of the retailers' signs have been replaced by banners, while the pillars that stood around the walkways have been removed leaving just bare support beams. Inside many of the shops, you'll find fliers like the one attached to this article—they were placed there by property management company Regency Centers and invite you to share your ideas for the renovation of the 51-year-old center on the web. The site explains that after upgrading the center merchants by bringing in Giant Foods, the company has decided to invest in the center by upgrading the facade, parking and signage. Currently there are two vacancies in the shopping center—one is a 5,600 square foot space, …

Visions for Vacancies

Visions for Vacancies: Former Linen World

What would you like to see in this vacant commercial space?

Linen World in Parkville Shopping Center closed its doors back in January the space it formerly occupied at 7613 1/3 Harford Road has sat empty. The question for the day is: what business do you think would be a good fit for this 5,180 square foot space two doors down from Cafe Euro and located next to the Dollar Tree? "Like" Parkville-Overlea Patch on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. Vacancies like the one left by Linen World are fairly rare in the shopping center according to leasing data from Regency Centers, the real estate company that manages the property. A chart on the company website shows only three other vacancies in the shopping center: a former podiatrist's office we talked about in this column last week; a space currently …
