Watch for new traffic patterns in the White Marsh area this week.
Construction, along with potential delays and detours, continues on the I-95 Express Toll Lanes project. Two temporary ramps have been installed northbound Interstate 95 to westbound MD 43 (Exit 67B, White Marsh Boulevard), and southbound I-95 to eastbound MD 43 (Exit 67A, White Marsh Boulevard), according to a Maryland Transportation Authority release. They are expected to open at about 9 a.m. on June 27. "Motorists should be aware that both ramp movements will change to traffic signal intersections; one new traffic signal and two right turn lanes will be at the ends of both ramps. Construction on the I-95 Express Toll Lanes project is expected to continue until 2014.
Lane closures are expected to begin June 17 and continue until June 21. Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night and morning, between that Sunday and Thursday, "all lanes of westbound Interstate 695 (OUTER LOOP) at Interstate 95 (Exit 33) will be completely closed. The detour route will direct motorists to northbound I-95, to westbound MD 43 (Exit 67B, White Marsh Boulevard), to southbound I-95, to westbound I-695 (Exit 64)," according to a Maryland Transportation Authority release. Contractors will perform steel girder placement as part of the I-95 Express Toll Lanes project. The ultimate goal of the project is to attach planned toll lanes to MD 43. The I-95 Express Toll Lanes project at MD 43 is underway.
Night work is expected to disrupt traffic in the White Marsh area late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Between 10 p.m. on May 22 and 5 a.m. on May 23, as part of the I-95 Express Toll Lanes Project, Exit 67B from northbound Interstate 95 to westbound MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) will be closed, Maryland Transportation Authority officials announced. A detour is planned from Exit 67A (eastbound White Marsh Boulevard), to eastbound MD 7 (Philadelphia Road), to westbound White Marsh Boulevard. The ultimate goal of the project is to replace the MD 43 bridges over I-95 and attach planned toll lanes to MD 43. White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company has already been dispatched to at least several motor vehicle collisions where the new signals have been installed. I have noticed that vehicles seem to be either not stopping fully at the end of the ramp and are treating it somewhat like a merge onto Rt 43 or they are stopping but making a right into the path of a fast moving vehicle that slams on its brakes … more ›
