Judge To Decide Accused Perry Hall Shooter's Charges Wednesday

A hearing to decide whether adult charges against 15-year-old Robert Gladden will be changed to juvenile charges has been rescheduled for Jan. 30.

Following multiple postponements, a hearing to determine the state of charges against 15-year-old Robert W. Gladden, Jr. has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 30, State's Attorney for Baltimore County Scott Shellenberger announced on Tuesday.  Gladden is accused of opening fire inside Perry Hall High School's cafeteria on the first day of school and seriously injuring another student. He was charged as an adult with nine counts of first-degree attempted murder, among other charges, in the Aug. 27 incident. Postponed Hearing Could Delay Accused Perry Hall Student Shooter's Trial

A hearing to decide whether adult charges against 15-year-old Robert Gladden will be changed to juvenile charges has been postponed a second time.

A hearing to determine the state of charges against 15-year-old Robert W. Gladden, Jr. has been postponed a second time, and could cause a delay in his criminal court trial, Baltimore County Assistant State's Attorney John Cox confirmed on Thursday.  Gladden is accused of opening fire inside Perry Hall High School's cafeteria on the first day of school and seriously injuring another student. He was charged as an adult with nine counts of first-degree attempted murder, among other charges, in the Aug. 27 incident. A juvenile waiver hearing for Gladden was first scheduled for Nov. 11, then postponed and rescheduled for Jan. 3, then postponed again. UPDATE: Bail Hearing Scheduled for Accused Perry Hall High Shooter

Robert W. Gladden Jr. is scheduled to appear in Baltimore County Circuit Court Thursday.

UPDATE (10:53 a.m., Sept. 13)—Gladden Bail Denied Pending Mental Health Evaluation --- UPDATE (11:58 a.m., Sept. 12)—The 15-year-old accused of shooting another student in Perry Hall High School's cafeteria on the first day of school is expected to appear in Baltimore County Circuit Court on Thursday. Judge John Grason Turnbull, II is scheduled to review a bail hearing for Robert W. UPDATE: Gladden Indicted For Perry Hall High Shooting

Charges against the teen include nine counts of attempted murder.

Updated (5:10 p.m.)—A teen charged as an adult in the shooting at Perry Hall High School faces nine counts of attempted murder as part of an indictment handed up Tuesday by a Baltimore County grand jury. Robert Gladden Jr. also faces nine counts each of first-degree assault and reckless endangerment, as well as one count each of use of a firearm in the commission of a crime and carrying a weapon on school property. Andrew Piper, Gladden's stepfather, remains charged with possession of a weapon by a prohibited person. Police searched Piper's home in the hours after the shooting and discovered weapons locked in a safe, according to a statement released by Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger. Facebook Page: 'Send Mr. Wasmer To Ellen Show'

A Facebook page dedicated to sending Perry Hall High School guidance counselor, Jesse Wasmer, to the Ellen Show had more than 900 fans Friday.

Just hours after Monday's shooting at Perry Hall High School, students identified guidance counselor Jesse Wasmer as a hero who stopped potential for further violence in its tracks. Now, members of the community want his heroism featured on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." The Facebook page "Send Mr. Wasmer To Ellen Show" was started Tuesday and had 923 "likes" as of 4 p.m. Friday. Police and witnesses say Jesse Wasmer rushed toward the alleged shooter in the cafeteria, but before Wasmer could subdue him, the armed student allegedly fired one round, striking 17-year-old Daniel Borowy. Alleged Shooter's Stepfather Arrested on Drug Charges

Police said the gun used in the shooting did not come from the Kingsville home.

The stepfather of the teen accused in Monday's shooting at Perry Hall High School was arrested on drug and firearm charges, according to police. Andrew E. Piper of the 8500 block of Bradshaw Road in Kingsville was charged with marijuana possession and illegal firearm possession. He is currently free on $500,000 bond. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Dec. 3. Piper was arrested Monday during a police search of the family's Kingsville home that was related to the shooting earlier that day. Piper is not charged in connection to the shooting allegedly carried out by his stepson, 15-year-old Robert Wayne Gladden Jr. Police said the weapon that was used in the school incident came from the Middle River home where Gladden's …
