ReplyIf there is a trailer outside of the school because there is not enough room inside to teach the students, then the school is overcrowded. When my child attended there, she had to eat lunch so early that she was sick with hunger by the time she arrived home. The reason they gave was that there were too many students and they had to add several lunch times in order to accommodate everyone. Perhaps if they did a check to actually verify that ALL students in the school actually lived in the district and not using a family member's address, this would eliminate some issues. I have heard students brag about being able to get away from their home school this way,

I have a child with Aspergers. What do you mean with your statement? I would hope it wouldn't be using a devastating, lifelong diagnosis that parents struggle with as an insult.

ReplyIt was very upsetting to see this lovely patch of land be destroyed for yet another set of ugly, congested shopping areas. You take your life into your hands at the Lowe's end of the shopping center as it is with no turn signal and coming up that last ramp where you have the right of way, cross traffic comes out in front of you 8/10 times. PAA, let's HOPE there are no pharmacies going up. Any ugly Royal Farm is bad enough.

ReplyI bike in the Perry Hall area and it truly is taking your life into your hands. I have long wished to bike on Honeygo Blvd, but my desire to live takes over. People beep their horns, swerve towards you, scream profanity out the window (all of these things have happened to me over a period of 1-1/2 years). Belair Road, Joppa and Chapel barely have enough room for cars and do not have sidewalks, let alone safe room for biking. This is a shame as I know many who would bike to work if it were a viable solution.

ReplyTrader Joe's for sure. A book store? We already have several libraries and Barnes and Noble, plus a Christian book store by the Mall too. No fast food either please. Trader Joe's would be swamped with customers. I don't go to the one in Towson often enough because of the traffic and distance.

ReplyWhen my son was horrifically bullied (nothing was ever done until I got a lawyer and got him moved to another school) in the Baltimore County School system, I was told that unless the incidents occur on a school bus, school bus stop or school property, the school cannot get involved other than as a citizen and call the authorities. I live in the immediate area and although I am not affected directly as these unfortunate residents are due to their proximity, I have walked through the area and seen the broken glass, trash, graffiti, cigarette butts and heard the foul language. It's a shame that young people don't have respect. Perhaps it is time for school staff to be patrolling the area and being more visual at dismissal? I would love to live there and have a home camera system installed. The story of the 18 year old student attacking a resident is horrifying. Who acts like that? Someone not brought up right is who. In 2006 when I had a child attending the high school, I witnessed a horrific attack in the parking lot where a student was ganged up on. I called 911 and the school itself without exiting my vehicle due to the violence of the incident. This is not new behavior unfortunately. It's shameful really.

Oh Nick, not your version of it, just the facts as presented in the story. It sounds like a relationship/friendship gone wrong type of thing. If I were robbed, I would report it within moments, not days.

I was wondering and I'm glad to hear that it's being used to calm traffic after such a heartbreaking tragedy. I hope it serves as a reminder to those caught speeding that slowing down in residential neighborhoods is essential to safety for all.
