You know, there was a young man critically injured in the crosswalk, by the Parkville library, last summer. It was driver error. He was in the crosswalk, one car stopped and the other car went around and hit him. Tragic. My prayers are with this couple and their family.

    Note to Carney Parents/ PTA:
As PTAmom who endured a difficult principal, please, document what has happened. We have be asking BCPS for many years to add to each school's home page specific info about the administrative team. Such as, how many years has he/she been principal? Which schools did he/she lead? This information will empower parents and faculty. Truly, BCPS is not forthcoming about leadership, and too many risks have been taken with our children.

BCPS has been placing inexperienced principals for years. All Assistants to the Area Superintendents are eligible to become principals. They have never 'run' a school or been an AP. We provide the on-the-job-training. Carney Elem. will survive. If the leadership isn't strong, those families with the means, will withdrawal their kids and either move or place them in private.

Umm, yes, parents and the community have a right to know if the principal was ask to step down. If it is medical, we should all respect her privacy and let it be done.

If there is more to the story, we will all hear about it.

However, for those of you who are living life with blinders on, I would like to point out that the other elementary school just up the road, had 6 principals and 7 assistant principals within the last 12 years. Yep!

BCPS doesn't have a stellar reputation with principal placement in what is called the Northeast Area. Some are truly wonderful leaders, but we usually get principals on their way out the door (retirement), those with NO experience (assistants to the area superintendents), or just hard to place individuals--who have no interest in working with the community, PTA or faculty. Sad, but true.

Note to Carney Parents/Faculty: Stand united together and demand the best!

    Honey, it's time to move...

That's what's going to happen. When local governments stop listening to the communities, the quality of life FALLS. Those who have volunteered in schools, coached our kids and kept life here enjoyable LEAVE.

    Tim et al,
Good Comments from all. Tim is so right to say the County (Gov and BCPS) has been run with no forethought in mind. We live in a society that kicks the proverbial tin can down the street, instead of dealing with the issues.

The BCPS issues and comments that are being written lately on PATCH, shows there is a major disconnect between BCPS and the community. We need to have 'United" themes, Dundalk United, Towson United, to get our voices heard by BCPS.

There is more going on here than just frustration by parents over the BCPS schools opening 2 hours late...

    Note to Superintendent Dance:
BCPS is overcrowded. Closing even one school for consolidation purposes, shows us that you have no idea what's going on in our system.

As a parent who has advocated for BCPS students for over 10 years, (i.e. attended board meetings, regional meetings, gave speeches, PTA board, fundraised, etc) If I had the resources, I would home school my kids or move. Just get your children out of the system.
The inequality which exists between Towson schools and the rest of the county, is documented. Baltimore County Public Schools was once a system concerned with all of its students. There is a paradigm shift in the BCPS and it does-not-include-your-child.

It is up to YOU to make the decision whether YOU will spend your child's youth battling for the very basic rights and needs BCPS should be providing. My husband and I regret the effort and time that we took away from our family, our children, to advocate for what should have easily be given.

We have some very talented kids in Parkville/Carney! I love hearing about the positive things our children are doing in the community--we don't hear it enough! Thanks Parkville-Carney Business Professional Assoc. for doing this for the neighborhood. It was nice to driving around noticing the different displays.

I understand from neighbors and Parkville High students that this JROTC unit is considered one of the best in the state, if not the nation. Many graduates of this unit go on to excellent careers in the military, as well as getting into the top military colleges. I like reading about the good things happening at Parkville High. Keep the good news coming!
